Greetings from the Malaysian Dental Students’ Association! On behalf of MDSA, I would like to thank everyone who has been continuously supporting MDSA events throughout the years and witnessed the growth of our association since our establishment in 2013. I am honoured to be taking on this responsibility from the predecessors; to continue the journey in leading MDSA to achieve greater heights.
MDSA has always strived to create platforms for dental students across Malaysia to connect and exchange knowledge among each other, provide volunteering opportunities for students to give back to the community and to develop interpersonal skills which are important attributes as a future aspiring dentist. Over the years, MDSA has gained recognition among the Malaysian dental community and worked with many notable associations to organize purposeful events for the benefit of dental students in Malaysia. I would like to take this opportunity to extend my greatest appreciation to our dearest Patron, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim, our honorary advisor, Dr. Muzaffar Hamirudin and our dearest advisors Dr. Leong Kei Joe and Dr. Atika Ashar.
During this tenure, I hope to work alongside my team of passionate and enthusiastic committee members to organize meaningful leadership and academic events for the students. We would also like to provide more volunteering and research opportunities for students to publish their work.
These are some of the new upcoming programmes for the year:
Dental Undergraduates Survival Kit (DUSK) congress
ASEAN Dental Student Forum
Volunteering programmes with notable organizations
Publication of research and case reports on Malaysian Dental Journal
MDSA x Pasadent (A digital dental hub for the dental community)
MDSA Privileged Membership collaboration with MDA
Whilst continuing some of the bequests from previous tenures including:
Leadership Training 2.0
National Dental Intervarsity Games (NDIVG)
National Dental Students’ Scientific Conference (NDSSC)
National Dental Clinical Skills Championship (previously known as MYNTD)
National Inter-collaborative Community Outreach Programme (NICOP) with MyPSA

Interview with Experts Season 5
Mouth Cancer Awareness Week (MCAW) with OCRCC
MDA-MDSA Mentorship Programme during SCATE and MIDEC

I believe that we can achieve greater milestones during this tenure with strong commitment and dedication from my fellow committee members for the betterment of dental students in Malaysia. With that, I thank you for reading and thank you once again for your continuous support towards MDSA!
Best regards, Jacklyn Ng Zhi Ling, President, MDSA 19/20.
