Due to the pandemic, this year’s 3rd Malaysian Dental Intervarsity Debate Competition (MDIDC) was held through online platform-ZOOM. In conjunction with the annual Scientific Conference and Trade Exhibition (SCATE) 2021 organised by the Malaysian Dental Association (MDA), MDSA has collaborated with MDA Toastmasters Club in organising the 3rd Malaysian Dental Intervarsity Debate Competition (MDIDC). which was held on the 6th and 7th March 2021.

Out of 13 dental universities in Malaysia, 9 including SEGi, IIUM, USIM, UKM, LUC, UM, UiTM, IMU and AIMST have sent their students to participate in this competition. The participants blew everyone away with their terrific performances on the debatable motions. The competition was judged by a panel of dedicated lawyers, lecturers and doctors.

All the participants were dental students with equal calibre and potential but in the end, some stood out shining brighter than the others.The champion of the 3rd Malaysian Dental Intervarsity Debate Competition was won by Universiti Teknologi Mara Malaysia (UITM) - Izzat Izzuddin Bin Ismail Nudin, Syakirah Binti Sahar and Ain Ashraf Bin Rizwal , while the 2nd place went to International Medical University (IMU) - Issac Lui Chung Howe, Clarissa Phung Pao Yee and Benjamin Soo Chu Ann and the 3rd place went to Lincoln University College (LUC) - Nurilham Azim Bin Rahazam, Athina Amala Paya K Mutharsasu and Arvinder Kaur A/P Surjit Singh. Apart from that, the best debater title went to Syakirah Binti Sahar from University Teknologi Mara Malaysia (UITM).

The competition was a huge success and the prizes were sponsored by the prestigious sponsors - Sanctuary Health Sdn Bhd, Resto.Ren, TK Dental Supplies (M) Sdn Bhd, 3M Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Dental Student Circle and Edi Dental Supplies Sdn Bhd.
